ABOUT US
Stefan Lipa
Managing Director
After an early career in the law and politics in New Zealand, Stefan has had two decades of fundraising experience: advising, supervising, and managing successful fundraising projects. He began his fundraising career in 1988 as a consultant for an international fundraising consultancy, and in 1994, established his own independent fundraising consultancy company – Stefan Lipa Consultancy Ltd (SLC). Within the company, he leads a small team, organizing the work of SLC in such a way that the ongoing relationship between each client and SLC is conducted by Stefan himself.
During his consultancy career, Stefan has advised charities with fundraising projects which have raised in excess of £75 million for capital and revenue projects. Details of one of these can be found in ‘A Dean’s Diary’ (published 1997 by SCM Press Ltd) written by the then Dean of Winchester, Trevor Beeson. On Page 92, he writes: “Stefan Lipa, our Appeal Manager, is an impressive man in whom I have great confidence.”
Stefan was elected Chair of the Association of Fundraising Consultants in June 2007 having been on the Board since 2004. He is a member of the Cabinet Office (Office of the Third Sector) Working Party preparing guidance on fundraising issues relating to the Charities Act 2006. Stefan is also a member of the Institute of Fundraising, the Charity Law Association and the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand.
Anna Lipa
Company Secretary
With a background in mathematics and systems analysis, Anna began working in fundraising consultancy in 1994. She advises clients on technical, administrative, software and database issues.
Anna developed the SLC fundraising database system which has assisted many clients with record keeping for their campaigns, as well as enabling them to produce reports and make tax reclaims. To maximize the compatibility with contemporary computer systems, Anna has now re-written the package in MS Access.
Andrew Frearson
Trusts and Grants
In 1997, after a career in international banking, Andrew commenced his work in fundraising when he accepted the post of Campaign Manager with Brendoncare, an SLC client specialising in care for the elderly, which was raising a large capital sum for redevelopment and extension. The time he spent managing this successful campaign equipped him with the skills and experience for organising and advising on trust and grant applications for the Consultancy’s clients. Andrew has had several notable successes whilst working with the Consultancy, including Lottery applications, which have provided a solid base for further campaign contributions.
