Formed in December 2013, Innovation for Agriculture is a consortium of sixteen English Agricultural Societies which aims to share the latest and best scientific and technical research with UK farmers through technical seminars, conferences, a website, social media, working with individual leading farmers to model best practice and share knowledge, developing local champions, and providing a mentoring service. The focus of current action is on soil health and water management, precision livestock, and antibiotic reduction. Innovation for Agriculture plans to expand in the future to deal with areas such as social exclusion and the digitalisation of farming, robotics, urban farming, and nutrition along the food chain.
Stefan Lipa Consultancy Ltd was retained by Innovation for Agriculture from its formation until late 2019 to advise on raising charitable funds. during that time, some £2.3 million was raised. Innovation for Agriculture’s business model relies on charitable funding to establish work in each new technical area, which is gradually replaced by earned income over time, to the point where that area becomes largely self-sustaining through commercial income, by securing clients keen to benefit from the expertise which Innovation for Agriculture has developed.
“ When we established Innovation for Agriculture, we did so with virtually no financial resources and it was obvious we needed help. The Chair of Innovation for Agriculture had worked with Stefan Lipa on a previous large and successful fundraising campaign. Stefan has worked with us from the beginning advising us how to raise sums of money that many of our supporters thought impossible. He has guided us through many stages of development some of which were quite difficult. Stefan works with us to set realistic plans and recommends strategies and tactics for implementation. With his help, Innovation for Agriculture has achieved its fundraising objectives to date and we are confident that with his support we can achieve our aims in the future.”
